6 ¾” SS100 SpiroStar drilled 8,783’ ft & 115.6 ft/hr ROP in McClain County, Oklahoma SCOOP Play

 

Application:

BICO’s 6 ¾” SS100JR SpiroStar motor was assembled as with a jetted rotor to reduce bit speed and drill the vertical section of the well in Oklahoma’s SCOOP play in McClain County, OK.  The BICO motor drilled 8,783’ in 76 D&C hours with a ROP of 115.6 ft/hr

Objective:

Drill the entire interval in a single run.

Results & Benefits

  • Operator recognized BICO as an instrumental part in

  • achieving a record for the deepest and fastest drill out

  • in the challenging SCOOP play.

  • Outperformed operator’s expectations.

  • Excellent motor performance while maintaining bit

  • cutter condition with assistance from BICO’s slower

  • speed jetted rotor configuration

 

S. Texas Operator Utilizes BICO 2 7/8” PBL Tool & SpiroStar Motor to Reduce ER Well Plug Milling Time 

 

Application:

Average time to mill 18 plugs in S. Texas horizontal well was 5 days. Plugs in lateral between EOB @ 10,000’ and TD @ 16,180’.

Objective:

Utilize coiled tubing BHA that includes a BICO 2-7/8” Three Port PBL Tool (Multiple Activating Circulating Sub) and BICO 2-7/8” SS150 SpiroStar™ motor. The performance evenwall SpiroStar™ motor was used to mill plugs at 2 ½ BPM while the PBL was cycled to clean the hole at accelerated flow rates (5 – 5 ½ BPM) after 3 to 6 plugs were removed. There are 7 Total Cycles available on the 2 7/8” PBL Tool.

Results & Benefits

  • Multiple activation feature of the PBL permitted increasing total and annular flow rates for hole cleaning at desired intervals. 4 Activation cycles utilized.

  • No sticking or hole problems encountered due to reduction of cuttings in wellbore

  • Fewer and Less Lengthy Coil Short Trips were required. Thus reducing the overall Coil Footage Costs

  • Incremental savings seen by the reduction and elimination of high cost Chemical additives

  • Over 6 Hours were saved by blowing coil dry with N2 through PBL while POOH. Eliminating dedicated trip

  • Overall time for operation was reduced from 5 Days to 2 Days

 

 

BICO 5” SSS140 SpiroStar Supreme proves tough enough for Haynesville high temp wells

 

Application:

The BICO 5” SSS140 was utilized to drill the lateral section of a 320°F Haynesville well in Northern Louisiana. The tool drilled 4,045 ft. in the high temperature well using 15.8 ppg OBM to reach TD at 19,670 ft.

Objective:

Withstand hot hole conditions to deliver consistent directional performance and TD the horizontal interval without the need to trip.

Results & Benefits

  • TD’d the interval with 172.5 D&C hours.

  • Sustained directional performance and responsiveness throughout the wellbore.

 

BICO 5” SSS140 SpiroStar Supreme drilling motor TD’s 8,907 ft. horizontal section in 300°+ BHT

 

Application:

The BICO 5” SSS140 was utilized to drill a horizontal section to TD on a high temperature well in the Northern Louisiana Haynesville application. Bottom hole temperatures were reportedly 306° degrees, and the job was performed using 15.75 ppg OBM

 

Objective:

Drill the horizontal interval while minimizing tripping and maintaining directional control in 300°+ wellbore

Results & Benefits

  • Successfully TD’d interval in one run.

  • Motor withstood 112 drilling hours and an additional 29 circulating hours at 300° + operating temperature

  • Maintained directional responsiveness and penetration rates above 100 ft/hr.

 

 

7” SSS100 SpiroStar Supreme drilled 10K ft with 94 ft/hr ROP in Blaine County, OK’s STACK Play

 

Application:

BICO’s 7” SSS100 SpiroStar Supreme motor was utilized as a rotary assist motor to drill the lateral section of the well in Oklahoma’s STACK play in Blaine County, OK.  The BICO motor drilled 10,030’ in 120 D&C hours with a ROP of 94 ft/hr.

Objective:

Drill the entire lateral interval in a single run.

Results & Benefits

  • TD’d lateral, 10,030’ MD, in one run.

  • Outperformed operator’s expectations.

  • Excellent motor performance in the Meramac
    formation with 120 D&C hours in 200°F OBM

8" SpiroStar motor TD’d interval after 361.5 hours in 17.4 OBM in Vermillion Parish, LA

Application:

After squeezing a shoe, a BHA including the BICO SS100 Spirostar performance motor was selected to drill 2,546’ to the next casing point in a single run. This challenging application required an aggressive motor & 10-5/8” PDC bit combination in 17.4# diesel OBM.

Objective:

To drill the entire interval in a single run, maintaining directional control without having to trip the BHA for a motor in the harsh diesel OBM environment. 

Results & Benefits

  • TD’d desired interval in a single 8”motor run

  • Motor performed flawlessly after being subjected to 17.4 # diesel OBM for 361 hrs. including D&C + trip time

  • Operator reduced drilling curve by 2 days by not tripping pipe until reaching TD at 19,743’MD.

SpiroStar Motors Drilled Two World Record Laterals in McKenzie County, ND

Application:

BICO 5" SSS140  motors drilled back-to-back world records for the most footage drilled on a single 6" bit run. Both Lateral Sections of the two wells were over 15,000' and completed in McKenzie County, ND in July 2016. 

Objective:

Complete a one run 15,000'+ lateral in the Bakken formation. 

Results & Benefits

  • Two world records achieved with BICO 5" SSS140 motor

  • First well set a world record of drilling 15,340' at 135.2'/hr

  • Second well broke the previous record by drilling 15,375' at 135.5/hr

  • Both lateral sections were completed with the use of one motor

6-1/2" SSS100 Evenwall motor TD'ed mono-bore well after 47 drilling hours in Weld County, CO

Application:

BHA consisting of BICO's 6-1/2 SSS100 SpiroStar Supreme Evenwall motor was selected to drill a monobore well. At a starting depth of 1,553', the motor drilled 16,037' MD to TD the well at 17,590'. This motor drilled 47 hours to achieve an average ROP of 342'/hr. 

Objective:

Drill a mono-bore well using a BICO Evenwall motor. 

Results & Benefits

  • Reach TD without the need to change BHA

  • Drilled a 3+mile well with a single motor. 

PBL Bypass System Saves Deepwater Operator $250,000 during Sidetrack Operation

Application:

A major U.S. deepwater operator planned to perform a window milling sidetrack operation that would kick off at approximately 13,000 feet. BICO Drilling Tools recommended utilizing PBL Bypass System for BOP jetting after milling operations to remove metal shavings and cuttings in order to save a dedicated cleanout trip.

Objective:

To utilize the PBL Bypass System in a window milling sidetrack operation to jet the subsea stack while POOH after milling operations. Accomplished by increasing flow rates (annular velocities) in order to boost cuttings and avoid a separate cleanout trip by placing the 6.75” PBL sub in the drill string above the HWDP.

Results & Benefits

  • PBL was successfully activated inside the subsea stack to increase flow rates

  • PBL was rotated and reciprocated while jetting the stack to maximize cleanout

  • BOP Stack successfully functioned tested after cleanout

  • Recovered over 400 lb. of additional metal shavings during cleanout operation

  • Saved a dedicated cleanout trip.

  • Eliminated 8 hours of rig time resulting in savings of $250,000

 

Eagleford operator increase production from 5 to 135 BOPD using BICO PBL Tool & SpiroStar motors

Application:

Operator had series of wells where production had dropped to ≈ 5-10 BOPD. If production could not be increased to commercial levels then the wells would have to be P&A’d.

Objective:

Pick up coiled tubing BHA that included a BICO 2-7/8” PBL tool (multiple activating circulating sub) and BICO 2-7/8” SpiroStar™ motor. The performance evenwall motor was used to clean out the well bore while the PBL was used to pump an acid, nitrogen and foam mixture to clean out existing fractures to stimulate the well. The PBL was used to isolate the motor and remaining BHA from damages often associated with pumping acid on an operation of this nature.

Results & Benefits

  • Operation was a commercial success and Production was increased from 7 to 135 BOPD

  • The 20x increase in production levels has remained constant for 5 months

  • Total cost of this operation, including coil unit, was recovered in less than 10 days of production.

  • Incremental savings through use of a PBL sub saved over $7000 in damages that were normally encountered if acid or nitrogen was pumped through a motor.

  • Multiple activation feature of the PBL permitted both the spotting of acid without damage to the BHA, subsequent chemical slurry was able to be pumped in order to neutralize potential damage to the string of coil tubing.

  • This operation and its savings have since been repeated on multiple wells.

BICO 5” SSS140 SpiroStar Supreme finds continued success in high temp applications

Application:

The BICO 5” SSS140 was utilized to TD another high temperature lateral section in the Northern Louisiana Haynesville application. The well had recorded bottom hole temperatures of 328°F, and was drilled using 15.7 ppg OBM. The tool drilled 7,000 ft. in 123.5 drilling hours, with an additional 46 circulating hours.

Objective:

Endure harsh drilling conditions to TD the lateral interval of the well with minimal trips, with consistent performance and directional control

Results & Benefits

  • Successfully TD’d interval in one run

  • Endured 169 D&C hours in high temperatures and OBM to meet client needs

  • Maintained directional responsiveness and penetration rates around 100 ft/hr
